Ըստ ՀՀ Սահմանադրության՝ Հայաստանը անկախ ու ժողովրդավար երկիր է, որտեղ ժողովուրդն է որոշում, թե ինչպես պիտի լինի կառավարումը։ Մարդու իրավունքներն ու ազատությունները ամենակարևորն են, ու պետությունը պարտավոր է դրանք պաշտպանել։

Սահմանադրության մեջ նաև նշվում է, որ մեզ մոտ կա ազատ ընտրություն, կուսակցությունների գոյություն, սեփականություն ունենալու իրավունք, շրջակա միջավայրի պահպանման կարևորություն։ Կարևորվում է նաև մշակույթը, լեզուն, սփյուռքի հետ կապը ու մեր ազգային խորհրդանիշները։

Կարևոր է իմանալ քո իրավունքները, որպեսզի կարողանաս պաշտպանել քեզ և իմանաս՝ ինչ պահանջել։ Սահմանադրությունը օգնում է ապահովել արդարություն բոլորի համար։
