Write a summary of the text.

Summary

This text was about two sisters and their friendship. Carnie, who is the older sister was very rude to Wendy, the younger sister when she was a teenager. Carnie was getting angry at Wendy because of some little things, like when Wendy wanted to spend some time with her.
They had a lot of toys and clothes, but their parents weren’t really happy, so they separated and sisters started to live with mom. They hadn’t seen dad in many years, which was really sad. But there was one good thing. Carnie and Wendy became very close to each other and even created a band together. The age gap between them disappeared. When they have an argument, they remember that they are sisters and make everything up. Carnie says that now she regrets what she has done to Wendy. Also she was jealous of Wendy because she thought that she was a lot more attractive that her. But Wendy was very kind, she always supported Carnie. Everything now is very good.

What I appreciate in people

Write an essay using the words and phrases you have learned from this lesson/ 100-120 words/

It doesn’t really matters to me what kind of person is that, unless they take somethings too far, cross the line. But I like people with sense of humor, who are understanding, maybe patient, comfortable, kind and etc. I don’t like people with no sense of humor, because it will be really boring to be friends with them, we wouldn’t be joking and having fun. I don’t like not understanding people, because they can really hurt someone’s feelings and not even understand what have they done. I don’t want to get hurt. Not patient people are a bit annoying, but I want a patient friend also because it’s very hard for me to get comfortable with someone, so I need time and them to wait. With kind people it’s very comfortable and they are sweet to others, that’s what I like. That’s it.

Dear students, write your viewpoints about leadership.
NEF Student’s Book. slide 5, Read the interview with Alice and Jacqueline and answer the questions/orally/ Be ready to discuss in class.

My viewpoint about leadership

Most people think that being a leader is very easy, but that’s not true. You have to be understanding, clever, tolerant, respectful to people and their opinions and etc. Being a leader is hard, because you will be the one that’s deciding everything, so all responsibility is on you. You have to be kind to have people’s love and respect. Being a leader is really hard.

We talk to women around the world about their relationship with food.

1. Is food a pleasure for you?

Alice

F: Not really. I enjoy certain fast food, but most meals are just fuel to keep me going through the day.

Jacqueline

E: Yes, definitely. For me good meals with the family makes me happy!

2. What do you normally eat in a typical day?

Alice

D: I usually eat a bowl of cereal or toast for the breakfast. For lunch I eat at a restaurant near my office. I prefer a Japanese or Indian food. I usually eat rice with fish and vegetables, soup or sushi. I don’t eat meat, but I eat a lot of fish.

Jacqueline

F: I’m quite traditional and I have three main meals a day. For breakfast I like hot chocolate, and bread and butter with honey or jam. For lunch, I often eat in a restaurant with my colleagues. I usually have vegetables and meat or fish, but I love pasta and rice too. In the afternoon, I have fruit with biscuits or a piece of chocolate. In the evening, I have a proper meal with my family.

3. Do you ever cook?

Alice

B: Not very often. I don’t have the time or talent to cook full meals. I usually heat up a frozen meal or order a takeaway.

Jacqueline

A: Yes, I cook every evening for my family. I often make a soup or traditional French dishes like ‘boeuf bourguignon’, which is kind of beef and red wine stew, and then we have cheese and salad. It may seem a lot, but we don’t eat big portions. What’s important for me is quality, not quantity.

4. Do you ever eat ‘unhealthy’ food? How do you feel about it?

Alice

C: Sometimes, I get fast food for a lunch. I have to admit that I love French fries. I feel terrible about it afterwards, but I don’t do it very often.

Jacqueline

D: Not at the home. I think most of the food I cook is healthy, but occasionally when I eat out, I have something unhealthy, but it doesn’t worry me.

5.Are you trying to cut down on anything at the moment?

Alice

E: I am trying to cut down on the amount of fat I eat. I’m also trying to eat more wholemeal food.

Jacqueline

B. Yes, I’m trying to eat less chocolate.

6. Are people’s diets in your country getting better or worse?

Alice

A: I think people are trying to improve their diets, but they are doing it the wrong way by following diets like the Atkins diet. Personally, I don’t think it’s very healthy, to cut out entire groups of foods like carbohydrates.

Jacqueline

C: I think people’s diets are getting worse and worse. It’s quite strange, because we have a lot of information now about how bad fast food is for you. I’m afraid it’s a problem in a lot of European countries.
